Not impressed with the kids pizza uthappam, it was not soft. Chettinadu briyani wasn't good either, it's not really Chettinadu taste. Chicken 65 was good. Chilli paratha also good on the second day.
Best south Indian in Toronto. Authentic Indian taste with a vast variety of dishes on their menu. Absolutely loved the mutton dosa.
Great food great service and beautiful patio seating! Price is on par with Gerrard St. But service is downtown quality.
The place offers a great range of delicious food. I liked dining here. Employees are always very welcoming, pricing is affordable and the place is always well organised.
Good place for south Indian cuisine.
Since i have come to Toronto i haven't eaten good Indian food... untill i ordered food from madras cafe..after a long time i enjoyed good Indian food in Toronto..superb food..and a good quantity ... totally loved it!!!!
We are new to Toronto and had big time craving for Indian food. After lot of research and unsatisfied experience in many other Indian restaurants in downtown, finally found our place. The food served here is excellent and tastes authentic Indian. We have had Biriyani, Fried Rice, Poori and Masala Dosa from here. And would say that they all were very good. But to pick the best , I would say their poori sabji was the best. Have visited thrice here in this short while and sure that I will visit more.
Really bad food!! Paratha was hard and dry. Curries lack flavour. Dosa and biriyani were not bad. Will not go back there.
Service needs a lot of improvement. Staff does not even acknowledge your presence when you enter and are waiting for a table. After debating for about 10 mins whether to leave or not, one server finally showed me to my table. Nobody asked or served drinking water during my meal. I ordered a masala dosa, onion chilli masala dosa and medu wada. No item could be termed delicious. Food portions are good with sambar and chutneys. It's worth a one time visit only for me.
Really great food good portions great price
By far one of my favorite spots, I had the lamb nigiri, it's this cilantro based sauce that was pretty delicious. I tried some of the spicy cheese dosa from my buddy and this was a pretty solid choice as well. I've been to this place 4 times ordered different dishes and they have yet to disappoint.
One of the few south Indian joints serving true Indian taste. Very nice food..
Food quality. 7.8 out of 10. Overall good. Need to improve customer service. Representative should know that, how to treat cx and how to smile! Be happy men! What we'll get from u@😂😅
Would certainly recommend trying this spot. Excellent ambience, yummy food, excellent service. 5 stars.
LOVE THIS PLACE. It was closed for quiittee some time. But they are back again now. So happy could go and be able to have our favourites from there. Even though we cook South Indian at home. Once in a while treating yourself with the authentic south Indian from here is nice. They have a good variety when it comes to different categories. Best south Indian in Toronto. Authentic Indian taste with a vast variety of dishes on their menu. Absolutely loved the mutton dosa. Helpful staff as well. Quick service.
Was skeptical before my visit to this place, but anyways took a chance as it was nearest to my location and honestly, it was a great experience. Staff and food was great. Dosa was amazing. Had problem with my credit card and as well as paying the taxi driver, the staff and the owner came to my rescue and saved my day. Would happily recommend this place to anyone. Reviews regarding staffs being rude, proved me wrong. Happy to have made the visit. Thanks to Madras Cafe for the great help as well...Cheers!
Really good dosa place but service in incredibly slow.
This is real deal south indian cuisine.. please dont come in here expecting your cliche butter chicken , or kormas .. this is INCREDIBLY delicious south indian food.. Chef Damu is a godsend.. and my favourite chef in Canada. Dont hesitate to visit this gem.
So I decided to visit this place after hearing a lot about it.Unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations and the hype some reviews have created. We ordered the Wada sambhar, filter coffee, masala dosa and Mysore masala dosa. The Wada was average. The dosas and chutney were nice. The coconut chutney was definitely better of the 2 chutneys. The sambhar however was an absolute disaster. In my humble opinion they need to change the recipe. It tasted more like dal with some tomato.Hope the management does something about the sambhar. If I do visit again, I'll just ask for dosa and chutney.
Being a South Indian and knowing how a dosa and chutney should taste like, this place is miles apart from it. Unsure why so many positive reviews but this was a very big let down.Me and my partner just ate for the sake of eating.Speaking of the service, one of the waitress’s was good and the other seemed lethargic.Won’t be returning back for sure.
My fave Indian spot in the City. Delicious food and large quantities for a decent price. Love!!
The veg cutlet was phenomenal and the ghee maslala dosa was really good .
Worst dosa ever! Tried to replicate real taste of dosa but failed to do so!!!
Amazing cuisine especially butter chicken!!!
An okay place. Chicken 65 was not very chicken 65-y though it was good chicken. Their dosas are okay -- not the worst, but certainly not the best. The tomato chutney, sambar, and chicken curry was also okay. The pani puri had all the fixtures of an absolute baseline pani puri. If you're feeling lazy, you can expect a decent meal here. If you're not feeling lazy, you can definitely cook just as decent if not a better meal than what you can have here, at home. Once again, everything about this place was a loud, resounding, "Meh" -- but not bad by any means. Come here when you're having an average day and are looking for an average meal on a Wednesday or something.
Delicious food and friendly service (our waitress was super!) Very accommodating for dietary restrictions. The chef confirmed the biryani can be veganaized and I can't recommend this dish enough! Order the Indian spice version with pickled mangoes. 10/10
Love the cheese Dosa. Service is great. If you like Indian food this place is definitely worth a try
One of the best restaurants in Toronto which provide South Indian Dishes. Don't miss the real taste of South Indian foods.
If your favourite dish is dosa then don’t go here because after that may be dosa will become your one of the most dislike food dish.
I have been ordering from this place for quite sometime now and I love their vada’s. They are always nice and crispy, without being oily. And there dessert section is an absolute delight - do try their kulfi and badam halwa.
The service is so kind and gentle. Go and you will know what I mean. The food is tasty and delicious.
Good food. Limited menu. Management can avoid being cheap by not charging 0.50$ for extra chutney and 1$ for sambhar, especially when you're already paying 10+$ for a dosa.
Really good Dosas. It's worth going to this place, takeouts are not that good
Super yummy food. I always get the lamb curry and coconut milk chicken biriyani. Perhaps my favourite Indian restaurant in Toronto — Maybe because they’re located less than 5 mins away from my place. Sit-in dinner is slow, typical of small Indian restaurants that cook your food from scratch, so I always call to order take-out.
One of the best South Indian places in Toronto downtown (if you can call it downtown). If you're used to north indian curries, try a paper masala dosa and shake it up. Service is good, taste is different, portions are big, and prices reasonable.
Great service and good food! Very accommodating and has great accessibility!
I tried a chicken dosa. Their beautifully done chicken masala and the tomato chutney had me. And I had never been to a dosa place that served alcohol before and it turned out to be a great experience. My recommendation would be Budweiser with this particular dosa. P.S. the service was good too
I love the vegetarian biriyani here and have had it a lot of times. Dosa is okay but idli I believe is yum.

Idlis and dosa in the middle of Toronto. Street parking around and good food.
Great service and top delicious food. Entering the restaurant and the aroma activated our palate. It's luxury is in ingredients and spices.
Food is so good, prices are reasonable but service is not great, satisfactory at best.
High a bit on pricing but good and fresh food!
I have been going to this location for the past 4 years and would recommend going here for traditional South Indian food. They make one of the best dosas and my favourite dish os their Coconut milk Chicken Biryani. I love all the desserts on their menu too.
Friendly staff. An option of mild, medium or hot dishes. My friend who is Tamil considers the food authentic. Why not try the mild option and write a review.
Not sure how this restaurant got 4 stars as the food quality was bad. Dosa was undercooked and cold. Chicken 65 was a joke with probably 1 pc of chicken cut in 50 little pcs. Service was subpar and waitress brought us the bill while we were eating which made us feel that they are just waiting for us to leave. Do not recommend this place.
We ordered food for approximately 15 people on 12th December. The owner Damodar was very detailed while explaining the food items and he accommodate dour request last minute. The food was ready on time and was finely packed with all the dishes clearly marked and wrapped for easy transportation. The taste was awesome and all our guests actually wanted to know the place we ordered food from.Especially the Naans were awesome and were really soft to be heated up again. All the dishes were superb with correct level of hotness. The owner even messaged us to know if everything was ok and if there is something else needs to be added to the service/order.We were delighted with the personalized approach and warm welcome nonetheless excellent food and customer service.
I must say I am a fan of this place. I'm super impressed with the food here.
Great dosas. Wonderful food!
My parents visited and recommend it. They brought me a rava dosa and it was really good. They packed the dosa stuffing (mashed seasoned potatoes) seperate. Helps keeping g the actual dosa get soggy.Sambar was wrapped with plastic wrap so it didn't spill at all. The dosa was crispy and really good..came with the sambar coconut chutney and one other red one (maybe tamarind? Or tomotoe? mixed?I recommend this spot for 1. taste 2. Quality pa packaging and 3. My parents liked it and recommend it
